News. Brought to You by Disney : The media of the mass kind, has always portrayed itself as being the tellers of truth. The finders of previously unknown tidbits of facts. They find these facts and then are supposed to report these facts to us. Guess what? Wrestling was always fake and there really is no vast left or right wing news media conspiracy. With few exceptions, most are beholden to their advertisers and their advertisers friends.

Freedom Couch : March 15th 2008, Portland Oregon. World Without War and a day of resistance. Was it just another parade? A march around the block in the rain? For the apathetic, bored and disinterested American, I suppose it was. But what if we all sat on our couches.
Just sat on our couches of freedom and complained.

Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma : The Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raided the Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. in Portland Oregon last week. Approximately 167 people were detained. Of those 167 workers, 131 were bused to the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, Washington.
In researching a bit for this little essay, I found some things about Fresh Del Monte that surprised me. Perhaps it will surprise you as well...

Traitors, Communists and Terrorists invade Olympia : This is happening in Olympia right now! Or that's what's going on in the minds of a few readers of Olympia Washington's finest newspaper called The Olympian. The newspaper is allowing hate filled and violent threats to be advocated on their web site. The Olympian is a tool, a propaganda spreading tool. The McClatchy Company which owns The Olympian says it is dedicated to the values of quality journalism. Seems the Olympian does not subscribe to those values.
To read a few of the comments on the Olympian, go here http://www.ufppc.org/content/view/6841/34/
*an update from The Olympian* Go here http://www.theolympian.com/news/story/272105.html Unfortunately for The Olympian, this article attempts to distract from the real story. Read Vickie's article closely, it should leave you wanting more. Distraction. Media Propaganda. Vickie should know better....

Port of Grays Harbor Protest : Activists descended upon Aberdeen/Hoquiam to protest the shipment of military equipment from the Port of Gray's Harbor. The Naval ship MV Cape Henry is loading helicopters, Stryker vehicles, troop transports and equipment bound for Iraq. Local and other NW area news agencies reported on police preparing for mass arrests and ...chaos, due to the arrival of anti-war activists.
While there was no chaos, there was in fact singing, mass sign holding and marching. There were a few instances where those masked kids, refused to stand where there were told, yelled obscenities at police and generally behaved poorly. Fortunately, there was a strong police presence. Seattle PD was well represented, Washington State Patrol, Elma PD, Aberdeen and Hoquiam PD, Grays Harbor County Deputies as well as several "other" law enforcement personnel were on scene.

Gitmo or Bagram : Perhaps Abu Ghraib? Are these new stores in Seattle's Westlake Center? No, befuddled American shoppers! These are places where torture has been used, is being used and will continue to be used to show "brown-skinned, wrong God-fearing" people we mean business. We torture them in our desire to spread freedom and democracy. We torture them in the name of God, America, apple pie and baseball.

Dave Reichert and a Hard Day's Work in Bellevue : Dave Reichert had a very successful visit with his mentor and spiritual adviser, President George Bush in Bellevue last Monday, August 27th. George raised 500,000 dollars for Dave in one power lunch. George also raised over 400,000 dollars in New Mexico for Senator Pete Domenici earlier that same day. Both Dave and Pete will be donating that 900,000 dollars to Iraqi children and Hurricane Katrina survivors. The remaining money will then be used to buy a couple of tv's in one VA hospital. It seems both Dave and Pete do indeed support the troops....
*Fundraiser update, seems Dave and company were less than truthful about what money was raised. It's now approximately 135,000. Ouch!*

Seattle and The National Day of Action : A day of action. There was a great deal of action in Seattle on Saturday October 27th. Thousands turned out to march and rally against the war. Thousands turned out to be heard. They turned out because they support our troops. These Americans are not part of the problem. They're what's right. The problem Americans were dressed in purple this day. Saturday tens of thousands of those problem Americans filled Husky Stadium to watch another losing effort by the Dawgs. They filled the ferries and restaurants in their purple outfits complaining of another loss.
Apathy was dressed in Husky Purple this Saturday.

A group of Americans known as "We the People", gathered on this day to help folks driving by recall that all is not well. What better way than on All Fool's Day to remind you of the costs. What better day to remind you that we the people are being played for fools....by fools.

Veterans Day? : As Veterans Day fast approaches, our country remains asleep, apathetic and disconnected from reality. Some will go to parades this weekend, some will place flags in cemeteries and weep as Taps is played. Others may realize that there are many Veterans who are alive. Do you think they receive the honor and care that Veterans should? Today, 1.8 million have no health insurance. 1 in 4 homeless are veterans. Many of those homeless are young vets from Afghanistan and Iraq and their numbers will increase. The VA is embarrassingly underfunded. Do you care? Who do you think is responsible? I am a Veteran and I care. What will you do this weekend?
